MRSEC Facts
- The MRSEC was established
in 1996 by a grant form the
National Science Foundation.
- The Center's research involves
collaborative efforts between
faculty in five different departments
and two colleges within CMU.
- Prof.
Gregory S. Rohrer is
the Center director.
- Prof.
Robert Suter directs
the Center's educational
activites.
- Prof.
Anthony D. Rollett directs
the Center's outreach activites.
- Each year, the Center supports
approximately eight graduate
student thesis projects.
- Each year, the Center supports
approximately ten undergraduate
research projects
- The Center supports an orientation
imaging microscopy laboratory,
a scanning Auger electron microscope
laboratory, and a surface preparation
and characterization facility
that are available to the materials
research community.
- Oversight and guidance for
the center is provided by an
external advisory committee
composed of distinguished scientists
drawn from industry, academia,
and the national laboratories.
- The Center has established
liasons with Brigham Young
University, California State
University at Northridge, Florida
A&M University, Lehigh
University, and the University
of Pittsburgh.
- The Center has conducted
collaborative research with
National Laboratories, Industrial
Concerns, and Universities
in the U.S. and abroad.
